The metal Additive Manufacturing is starting to be more and more known as an innovative production technology in many industrial fields. However, the knowledge of metal AM is really often ambiguous and there are still a lot of inaccurate ideas and expectations. There are also doubts about how the metal AM can be integrated in a production cycle, and which resources should be dedicated by a company that is going to adopt this technology. The presentation aims to explain the point of view of Renishaw about these aspects, based on its forty-year experience in helping companies to improve their production processes.
