Luisa DI MARZIO

  • University of Chieti

CURRICULUM VITAE

Luisa Di Marzio was born on April 21 1963 in Campo di Giove (AQ), Italy. She is, at the moment, in permanent position as Associate Professor (SSD: Farmaceutico Tecnologico Applicativo CHIM-09) at the Department of Pharmacy, University “G. D’Annunzio” Chieti-Pescara. Her scientific activity is documented by 9 book chapters and 65 full papers published on international scientific journals (Font: Entrez-Pubmed and Scopus: see Di Marzio L). Luisa Di Marzio research interests are focused on:

  • Studies on sphingolipid metabolites as second lipid messenger with the emphasis on the development of dosage technique of products of sphingomyelin catabolism and of enzymes involved in their production. Furthermore, she is particularly in developing new therapeutic strategies to modulate intracellular levels of sphingomyelin catabolites in order to modify the development of pathological disorders.
  • Studies on the preparation and characterization of nanosystems based on phospholipid and surfactant vesicles for several pharmaceutical applications: oral, topical, pulmonary, brain and systemic. These studies concern the possibility to realize different systems and to evaluate the influence of different formulations on fluorescent dies and/or drug release. In particular, the interaction between phospholipid /surfactant vesicles and different cellular systems, specially regarding the in vitro toxicity and internalization pathway have been studied.
