SYNOPSIS

Nanocatalysis represent an original rapidly evolving research field in the field of nanoscience and, in particular, of nanochemistry, involving the use of nanomaterials as catalysts for a variety of applications. Nanocatalysis enables the control of chemical reactions by tuning the size, dimensionality, chemical composition and morphology of the reaction sites and by varying the kinetics by suitably tailoring the reaction centers at the nanoscale. This approach is demonstrating extremely promising, as able to open up new original routes for design and synthesis of nanocatalysts virtually atom-by-atom, with distinct and tunable chemical activity, specificity, and selectivity. The session aims at covering the most updated aspects of development of advanced functional nanocatalysts, from experimental and theoretical point of view, in homogeneous and heterogeneous reactions, from fundamentals to industrial applications.
