SYNOPSIS

In the framework of the nanotech world the design of a chemical or physical process needs to probe the ultimate capabilities of nanomaterials and systems and poses several issues, not always easy to be faced. There is not only the need to organize nanomaterials and nanostructures following requirements specific for the various applications, but also to engineer and control their distribution. In this context an important issue, intersecting all the research fields and the market segments, is the site selectivity . The pre-design of sites where reactions or processes can efficiently occur can be achieved by means of chemical, physical or also bio-related methodologies. This Key-Note session will present two notable examples of site selectivity applied to the preparation of catalysts (University of Turin, Italy ) and to the assembling of nanogap sensors (SKKU University, Korea).
