Simulation and Modeling for Nanotechnology

In the growing field of nanotechnology, theoretical modeling and computational simulations are considered powerful tools for interpreting experimental data, designing new nanomaterials and developing new nanodevices. The ever increasing power of computations and the recent development of parallel processor supercomputers have
indeed made feasible to treat nanomaterials by ab initio approaches with unprecedented accuracy. Atomistic simulations allow to get accurate information about the electronic, magnetic and optical properties that can be extended to continuous models which can describe the macroscopic properties.
In this symposium, specific examples of ab initio and multiscale simulation and modeling for different systems ranging from oligomers to nanomaterials and nanostructured devices, will be illustrated and discussed.
